Vintage design, when done well, can make a user feel like they have been transported back in time. This particular style often uses design elements that look like they were found in the attic of an old house dating back to the 1920’s, 30’s, or 40’s. If you have a project coming up that requires this type of design, here is a big roundup of textures and Photoshop brushes, all found at deviantArt.

I am in love with vector shapes right now. I think they are so handy to have around when you are building a site. The way that you can stretch vectors without creating jaggy edges, makes them incredibly useful. Most of the time I just land up breaking them apart to use a curve that I like. I also love using them for as badges or buttons on web sites.

Sometime ago I wrote an article on my blog listing some fashion style illustrations from really amazing designers such as: Bruno Fujii, Margot Mace, Raphaël of My Dead Pony, Stina Person, and others. The coolest thing in their design work is their use of watercolor effects. So in this tutorial I will show a quick way to simulate that effect using only Photoshop and some Brushes.

There are a variety of ways to sharpen files in Photoshop and, depending on the type of sharpening (input, creative, or output sharpening), different times when you might apply it. Output sharpening is designed to compensate for the type of output. That can vary from small images destined for your website or an online gallery, to large, fine art inkjet prints.
